TasteCamp Niagara in pictures, Day Two on the Bench

Day Two of TasteCamp in Niagara started with a nice walk in the biodynamic and organic vineyards of Tawse in Vineland, Ontario, led by winemaker Paul Pender. The early morning peaceful stroll and discussion about bio-organic farming and wines was followed by a terroir tasting inside the winery.

That was followed by a visit to Vineland Estate, a discussion by winemaker Brian Schmidt on the St. Urban Vineyard and the resulting rieslings made there and an extensive tasting of over 10 Bench wineries over a leisurely two hours.

We ended the day with an exploration of Flat Rock Cellars, led by Ed Madronich, with component tastings of the popular Twister white blend, barrel samples of the oaked Chardonnays and a tasting of Flat Rock Pinot Noirs, including the new Rogue, a white pinot.

The final act for TasteCamp Niagara was a bring your own wine dinner at Treadwell Farm to Table Cuisine, a feast of braised lamb matched with over 78 different wines from around the world.

It was a wonderful day despite the rain. Here are some photos from the day.
