NOTE: Rosehall Run has been invited to the Pinot Noir Shootout and Summit in February in San Francisco to present their estate-grown 2009 Pinot Noir Rosehall Vineyard, and winemaker, Dan Sullivan, will moderate a Pinot Noir workshop focusing on the Prince Edward County appellation. This is the press release on the announcement.
On Saturday, February 25, 2012 the 10th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout and Summit will take place at the Hilton San Francisco Financial District, located just an hour’s drive from the Napa Valley wine region.

CIMG4822Selected as a Gold Medal winner, Rosehall Run has been invited to present their estate-grown 2009 Pinot Noir Rosehall Vineyard at the event and winemaker, Dan Sullivan, will moderate a Pinot Noir workshop focusing on appellation. Dan will describe the distinct terroir and unique wine culture that has blossomed in Prince Edward County in the past 10 years.

The 10th Pinot Noir Shootout judging panel reviewed and analyzed over 350 Pinot Noirs.  Organizers report that the bar for the competition was set high with many excellent wines competing.  The panel of wine writers, sommeliers, industry professionals and winemakers awarded only gold and silver medals to the top wines. “If the wine didn’t rate a precious metal award, there was no medal at all.”

This latest honour follows a list of recognition for Rosehall Run Pinot Noirs, beginning with a prediction in June 2006 from one of Canada’s top wine writers, David Lawrason.  His Wine Access article featured  Rosehall Run’s 2004 debut Pinot Noir as one of “Six Wines that Define Canada’s Future”. The ‘07 Pinot Noir Rosehall Vineyard was awarded the first Canadian Wine Access Gold Medal for a Prince Edward County pinot, and last year the 2008 Pinot Noir was awarded a Silver at the Pinot Noir Shootout in California.

Located in Prince Edward County, Rosehall Run offers a selection of meticulously crafted wine.  Planting of the vineyard began in 2001 with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay occupying the majority of the 23 acres now in production.  Other wines available include the unique Sullyzwicker Red, White and Rosé, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gamay Noir and Cabernet Franc.

As the founder, vineyard manager and winemaker, Dan Sullivan maintains a hands-on approach to managing the vineyard staff, monitoring the weather and its effects, and using gentle, environmentally sound grape farming techniques that extract the optimum from the unique Prince Edward County terroir.  As a result, Dan has been acknowledged as being one of the best grape growers in Ontario.
