The Vintages release of Niagara wines this Saturday is (almost) exclusively a white wine offering.

The Kacaba Chard offers up a toasty-spicy rendition of this fruity grape while Pondview’s Riesling is a nice off-dry wine with just a hint of spice.

And don’t miss out on the Jackson-Triggs Entourage Brut at a great price of $23.

Here’s what’s being released Saturday at Vintages:

Kacaba Barrel Fermented Chardonay 2009 ($23, 88 points) – This Chard was fermented and aged in 50% new, 50% used French oak for 12 months. The nose shows buttery, creamy, French vanilla notes with apple-pear fruits and clove spice. It has vibrancy on the palate with apple, caramel and vanilla notes and just a hint of citrus on the finish. Very oaky style. Could cellar for a couple of years to soften out the oak.

JTEntourage-hi-1Pondview Riesling 2010 ($16, 89 points) — Aromas of quince, apple and lovely spice notes. It’s ripe and fleshy in an off-dry style with peach-orange flavours and a touch of ginger spice.

Jackson Triggs Entourage Silver Series Brut Methode Classique 2006 ($23, 90 points) — There’s a lot to like about this consistently well-made sparkling wine. But the price knocks me out. Such a great wine for $23. The nose smells of yeast, bread dough, citrus and vanilla. In the mouth, it has a firm bead of lively bubbles. It’s loaded with citrus-apple fruit and backed up by racy acidity. All that and a clean, fresh finish.

And some other Niagara releases that have not been reviewed yet.

Stratus Chardonnay 2008 ($42,

Vineland Elevation Sauvignon Blanc 2007 ($20)

Flourish Vidal Icewine 2008 ($18 for 200 mL)

G. Marquis The Silver Line Vidal Icewine 2009 ($28 for 200 mL)

Cattail Creek Reserve Cabernet-Merlot 2007 ($26)
