Events you should not miss this fall in Niagara wine country

Niagara wine

By Monica Kosior

Out with the hot and in with the cool, as quickly as summer goes by, fall is never too far behind in Niagara.

It is my favourite season of the year because it means it’s time for harvest — the most crucial part of the winemaking process.

Yes, we have to take care of the vines and prep them in the off season, yes we have to ensure nothing harms the leaves, trunks and roots, yes we pray for long, hot, dry days and cool nights. But most importantly, when it comes time to pluck the bountiful bunches off of the vines, we must be so careful that our previous efforts have not gone to waste. And as the Niagara winemakers and cellar hands are hard at work, we get to enjoy the fruits of their labour!
