Trius Jazz at the Winery lineup announced

Note: The popular Jazz at the Winery event, now into its 23rd year, will take place July 14 at the Trius/Hillebrand winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is the press release for the event from the organizers.

Trius Jazz LogoFor 23 years, Trius Jazz at the Winery has been bringing premier Canadian jazz talent to Niagara Wine Country. On Saturday, July 14, the winery will feature Marc Jordan, Laila Biali, the David Young Quintet and Tom Szczesniak.

Artist Highlights:

Marc Jordan’s long-standing music career began when he was signed to Warner Bros. in Los Angeles in 1977. He worked with famed Steely Dan producer Gary Katz who produced Marc’s album, Mannequin. He has written hit songs for Josh Groban, Rod Stewart, Cher, Molly Johnson, Natalie Cole, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt and Diana Ross. Jordan is married to accomplished Canadian singer/songwriter, Amy Sky.

Laila Biali is quickly gaining a reputation for being the new face of contemporary jazz. She has toured with Suzanne Vega, Chris Botti and Paula Cole and has recorded with Sting on his If On a Winter’s Night DVD. Accolades include, SOCAN Composer of the Year, Keyboardist of the Year at Canada’s National Jazz Awards, and her latest release Tracing Light received a JUNO nomination for 2011 Best Vocal Jazz Album of the Year.

Dave Young recently released the album, Bourbon Street with guitarist, Lenny Breau on Randy Bachman’s Guitar Archives label. Young has shared the stage with the late Oscar Peterson (with whom Dave had a thirty-five year musical relationship).

Tom Szczesniak has a multi-faceted career as a composer, arranger, conductor, pianist, electric bassist and accordionist. He is a multiple recipient of the SOCAN Award for Film and Television Music and winner of the Emmy Award for Beetlejuice.

The annual, Trius Jazz at the Winery began in 1989 with the intent of bringing premier Canadian jazz talent to Niagara Wine Country and serving it up with premium wines and Wine Country cuisine.

Trius Blues at the Winery takes place on Saturday, August 11.
