2010 Ontario Wine Fair

Toronto, June: Toronto’s one-stop tasting tour of local wines and cheeses, the Ontario Wine Fair is being held at café Taste, 1330 Queen Street West, on Saturday June 19th, 2010. Now in its third year, this homegrown event will feature 20 wineries from Niagara and Prince Edward County, as well as 30 artesian cheeses from the exploding Ontario cheese industry. Last year there were 71 wines poured!

Ontario’s craftsmanship is highlighted as small boutique wineries and several of the winemakers themselves present their products. Wine enthusiasts can connect and vote for their favourites in the People’s Choice Awards – the winners of which will be added to café Taste’s award-winning by-the-glass program.

The Tasting is Saturday June 19^th. Guests have the choice of attending between 1pm – 5pm, or 6pm – 10pm.  The cost is $55 in advance, $65 at the door (all prices include tax).  Space is limited for this premium event.

Norman Hardie, Tawse Winery, Lailey Vineyards, Calamus Wines, Fielding Estates, Kacaba Winery, Featherstone Winery, 20/27 Wines, Rosehall Run, Rosewood Estate, The Grange of Prince Edward, Black Prince Winery, Reif Estate Wines, Flat Rock Cellars, Peller Estates, Legends Estates, 30 Bench Vineyards & Chateau des Charmes.

In 2008, café Taste hosted the first true Ontario Wine Fair, a co-operative with local wineries where the smaller boutiques could be represented and people could do a virtual tour of 20 Ontario wine and cheese makers under one roof.

Wine Geek Jeremy Day runs an environmentally-mandated business modeled after a European cafe, featuring local products with a focus on wine and cheese. Since opening in early 2006, his wine list has championed Ontario, receiving three consecutive VQA Awards of Excellence as a Gold status restaurant. The intimate wine garden patio, crafted from reclaimed materials, was nominated on Dine.TO among Toronto’s top patios in 2009.
