Fieldings first guests at LCBO tasting event

Mark June 26 on your calendar for a unique Niagara wine tasting at the fabulous new Glendale LCBO store featuring the wines from Fielding Estate Winery.

This is the first in a series of tastings that features an interactive discussion and wine tasting with principals from the winery who will offer insight into the unique wines being made in Niagara.

The first guests in the series are Curtis and Heidi Fielding, who operate a friendly and inviting Beamsville Bench winery. Founded by Ken and Marg Fielding in 2005, today son Curtis and his wife, Heidi lead a dynamic team, including winemaker Richie Roberts, who are passionate about winemaking. From the moment you drive up the lane way, you’ll feel part of the Fielding family.

Fielding crafts VQA wines from 100% Niagara Peninsula grown grapes including fruit harvested from their estate vineyards. The family focuses on grape varieties that perform best in their own vineyards – Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay for whites, and Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for reds.

The Fielding Wine Lodge pays tribute to Northern Ontario’s cottage country, with cedar, stone, glass and a stunning view of Toronto across Lake Ontario.

Curtis and Heidi will be pouring the 2008 Riesling and 2008 Unoaked Chardonnay wines, perfect for summer sipping.

This is a unique chance to get up close and personal with the Fieldings who will answer questions and talk about their wines.

The event takes place on Saturday, June 26, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Glendale store, 343 Glendale Ave. There is no charge for this event. It will be hosted by me, Rick VanSickle, wine writer for the St. Catharines Standard.
