NIAGARA, ON, Nov. 4 — On October 2nd at Ottawa’s Novotel Hotel, 400 wines were judged in The Ottawa Wine Challenge. All medal winning wines from this prestigious competition will be featured at the Ottawa Wine and Food Show. Entries came from 15 wine regions from 13 countries and Ontario proudly took home 53 of the 149 medals awarded including one of three Best of Show awards.
The Ottawa Wine Challenge is open to all wines available for sale in Ontario giving consumers a great opportunity to taste and purchase these award-winning wines. Twenty Ontario wineries were honored as medal winners and are excited to showcase these wines at the 25th Anniversary edition of the Ottawa Wine and Food Show that takes place November 5th to 7th, 2010 at the Civic Centre in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa.
“It’s always exciting when Ontario wines show so well alongside wines from around the globe,” said Ed Madronich, Chair of the Wine Council of Ontario and proprietor of Flat Rock Cellars.
“Ontario VQA wines, 100% locally grown and produced, are an authentic reflection of unique terroir. It is especially fitting for Ontario wineries to claim these awards in our nation’s capital,” added Madronich..
