Twitter wine bash helps Meal Exchange

Generation Seven logo.

Note: Chateau des Charmes winery released the exciting Generation Seven Red and White wines earlier this year. And, with Christmas coming, Michele Bosc, marketing director of the winery, wanted to do something a little different to help raise money for one of her favourite charities, which can really use the money at this time of the year. I thought it was such a great idea that I have repeated the press release below. Go ahead! Drink some great wine, join the Twitter party and, most importantly, help those in need.

With the Holiday season just around the corner we wondered how we could spread a little more cheer to those who could use it the most. With a little brainstorming among some fabulous Tweeps (@TheresaAlbert, @JoanneWallace, @CLBuchananPhoto & @Optimom) a plan came to life. A Twitter party! But not just any Twitter party – one with a mission.

TO RAISE $15,000 for Meal Exchange in December!

What can you do to help reach this goal and have a little fun in the process?

• Generation Seven partners with Meal Exchange and already donates $0.50 for every bottle sold. In December we are adding another $0.50 making it $1.00 going to Meal Exchange for every bottle sold at the LCBO! Head down to your local LCBO and stock up with Gen Seven White and Red for all your Holiday parties.

• Save a bottle of Gen Seven White and Gen Seven Red from your party stash and join our Twitter party on December 16th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm (or so). Tweet about sipping your Gen Seven. Join in the fun trivia contest and win prizes (DM me @MBosc if you would like to donate a prize).

• Bid on two fabulous prize packages and the entire winning bid will go to Meal Exchange.

• You can also purchase Gen Seven by the 12-bottle case during the Twitter party and we will deliver the wine to you before Christmas no charge (Ontario residents only). Just DM me a phone number and we will call you immediately to make arrangements. Of course $12 per case goes directly to Meal Exchange!

• To participate in the Twitter party we ask you to donate at least $10 to Meal Exchange. Go to Meal Exchange and click on DONATE to link to their secure page.

SILENT AUCTION

Auction items have been generously donated so that all proceeds will go directly to Meal Exchange. Bidding is now open. Please DM @MBosc to make your bid. The current bid amount will be updated in real time below. Bidding will conclude at 7:30pm EST on December 16th, 2010 and announced on Twitter. To claim your prize, the highest bidder at the close of bidding will make a donation directly on Meal Exchange in the amount of the winning bid. Once proof of the donation is obtained, the gift certificates for the components of the package will be released to the winning bidder.
Niagara-on-the-Lake Escape Weekend for Two

You and your guest will enjoy two nights in a luxurious room at one of the Vintage Inns properties in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake including breakfast. From this home away from home you will be able to explore the many sights, sounds and tastes that this region offers. Also included in this package is a “Picnic Made for Two” at Château des Charmes.

Your gourmet picnic basket is freshly prepared by local favourite The Pie Plate and includes a choice of fresh sandwich, a side salad, a decadent sweet treat, a bottle of water, and of course a bottle of Generation Seven wine (white or red) to enjoy at your leisure as you take in the incredible scenery.

But that’s not all! To conclude your romantic rendezvous Michèle Bosc will personally take you on a private tour of the winery. You will also be taking home a Generation Seven basket of goodies so you can remember your weekend long after you return home. Meal Exchange is a national youth-driven registered charity. It supports youth as they address the issue of hunger in their communities in order to secure a future where all Canadians have access to healthy, sustainable food. We were also impressed that this approach of engaging today’s youth helps to foster an attitude of volunteerism in this generation. Visit Meal Exchange to find out how they do this.
