Canada’s sesquicentennial is fast approaching, how do you plan on celebrating in Niagara wine country?

With so many Canada Day celebrations happening in Niagara we decided to break it down for our readers to choose the best options for them and their family/friends.

Whether you’re opening a bottle of Canadian wine/beer/cider/spirit and enjoying at home or making your way to your favourite winery we hope you have a great Canada Day. The countdown is on! Show your True North pride by supporting Canadians, but, however you decide to celebrate, save a glass and slice of cake for me!

Niagara-on-the-Lake Canada Day Events

Coyote’s Run Winery

Coyote’s Run will be hosting its 4th annual Food Trucks in the Vineyard event. Featuring the Smokin’ Buddha food truck, live music from Taylor Hulley and Band on a Couch and wine by glass. They promise tons of #FunAtTheRun.

PondView Estate Winery

Walking tours, Bella Terra premium tastings in the barrel cellar and Canadian Wine Slushies will be served up at PondView to celebrate Canada Day. Relax on the wrap around patio and enjoy the long weekend. No reservations required.

Ravine Vineyard

Ravine is known for some of the best fireworks shows on Canada Day in Niagara. Coincidentally they are also celebrating their own 150th birthday of the Lowrey Farm, where Ravine is located. This year’s 150th celebration will stop nothing short of spectacular. Food, friends, family and great wine. What else do you need?

13th Street Winery

Aure Wines

Canada Day Charity BBQ at Aure includes a casual afternoon with the Hoare family. They will be serving up hamburgers and hot dogs alongside wine by the glass and Canada Day Wine Sangria. BBQ proceeds will be donated to the Tree of Life Foundation for Animals charity. Bring along your dogs and kids for a family filled day!

Calamus Estate Vineyard

Stargaze with the crew at Calamus. After 8 pm enjoy a glass of Canadian made wine while looking up at the Canadian sky, Jupiter and the Moon may also be visible! Did I mention? There will be birthday cake too.

Featherstone Estate Winery

Joy & Bubbles! Celebrate both Canada’s birthday and winemaker David Johnson’s birthday at Featherstone with samples of their sparkling wines, 2012 Cuvée Joy and 2014 Cuvée Joy Rosé. This is your only opportunity to try the wines in the tasting room. Sip, enjoy and stay a while on The Veranda, pizza will be available for purchase!

Good Earth Food and Wine Co.

A special Canadian inspired menu plus a live concert from Mike Lynch for a real “barn dance”. Enjoy Canadian cheeses, Alberta steaks and beaver tails for dessert. Sounds like a great menu, eh? Reservations are required for the dinner, call 905.563.6333 to reserve.
