The association representing wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake has released a list of what its member wineries are planning on the re-opening beginning today.
The Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake association says safety is “our priority.” With that in mind, wineries have resumed tastings and experiences with rigorous protocols in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests. While the wineries are well equipped to operate safely in this new reality, guests can take steps to contribute to a positive experience when visiting our properties in these unusual times:
- Please call ahead or check individual winery websites to confirm current policies and reservation requirements.
- Always respect physical distancing (keep 2 metres apart from guests outside your group).
- Wash and sanitize your hands regularly throughout the day.
- A mask must be worn at all times while at our wineries but can removed when seated at your table and participating in a wine tasting.
Effective Friday, Ontario has moved into STEP ONE:
- Winery staff are required to collect contact information and Covid-19 symptom-free attestation from every patron prior to being seated.
- Patrons are to be seated at all times in any area of the establishment in which food or drink is permitted. Standing tastings inside a winery are not permitted.
- Arrival and departure times for all patrons must be recorded. Non-essential retail permitted at 15 per cent capacity with no restrictions on the goods that can be sold;
- Essential and other select retail permitted at 25 per cent capacity, with no restrictions on the goods that can be sold
- Outdoor dining with up to 4 people per table from the same household, with exceptions for larger households;**We have received confirmation from the government that this includes outdoor tastings.
